FirstBank Launches Diaspora Remittance Platform


FirstBank of Nigeria Limited announced that it has launched its wholly-owned fund transfer platform, First Global Transfer, to promote the international transfer of funds between its subsidiaries in sub-Saharan Africa.

The bank, in a statement released over the weekend, said FBN’s subsidiaries operate in DR Congo, Ghana, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Senegal.

He also said that the network of international money transfer operators (IMTO) aims to make it easier for its customers to receive money from nearly 100 countries in a safe and secure manner.

The bank said the new product will also boost diaspora remittances in Nigeria and that with more than 750 branches across the country, customers can receive money from the nearest FirstBank branch.

The bank said it is in partnership with Western Union, MoneyGram, Ria, Transfast and WorldRemit.

The bank’s other IMTO partners include Wari, Smallworld, Sendwave, Flutherwave, Funtech, Thunes and Venture Garden Group.

“Recipients can receive payments in US dollars at any of our more than 750 branches across the country.

“Customers who don’t have an existing home account can have dollar accounts automatically created for their remittances.

“You can also receive entries directly to your account via Western Union,” the bank said.
