Large sums of money for Croatian schools that promote tourism careers

October 7, 2022 – Considerable sums are offered to Croatian schools that choose to integrate education and training in tourism professions for their students.

As Poslovny Dnevnik writes, until November 2 this year, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MINTS) will organize a competition for projects of vocational and artistic secondary schools that promote and strengthen their skills for professions in the field of tourism, for which one million kuna has been reserved.

This public call was announced by MINTS earlier this week, and is part of the ministry’s broader long-term involvement in funding the costs of creating projects for Croatian schools working to better connect education system and tourism employers, as well as to improve accessibility for tourists with disabilities.

Projects to mitigate the impact of tourism on the climate and the environment and vice versa are also envisaged. All secondary vocational and artistic schools in the Republic of Croatia can apply for the public call, either independently or in partnership with one or more other Croatian schools. A school can charge a maximum of 25,000 kuna, or 50,000 kuna if there are several.

This year, MINTS wishes to promote tourism professions and secondary education in the field of hospitality and tourism, and encourage Croatian schools and their students to strengthen their training in these professions. The topic of sustainable business and employment will also be the main focus at this year’s Croatian Tourism Days in Sibenik.

“There cannot be competitive tourism without quality and professional staff, which is why we have given the opportunity to young high school students who will present their own projects and solutions on how tourism can combine tradition and new technologies of very innovative way, as well as also addressing challenges and solutions,” said Minister of Tourism and Sports Nikolina Brnjac.

During the Croatian Tourism Days for the year 2022, an event which is currently taking place, prizes and awards will be presented to all those who raise the bar for the quality of Croatian tourism.
