Union Minister of State (MoS) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)- Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma remarked that states like Manipur stand a better chance of making progress if they focus on medium-sized industries.
Addressing the Inaugural Ceremony of a National SC-ST Center (NSSH) Mega Conclave in Churachandpur District; The Union Minister said that the government has put in place various programs for infrastructure development, credit and financial assistance, technological upgrading, skills development as well as the inclusion of a large number business units and exporters.
“MSMEs will also support job creation and give citizens access to employment. Manipur has no major industry, but despite this, its small businesses operate on par with those in other states,” Verma said.
“Cluster groups should take advantage of the many initiatives undertaken to strengthen small and medium enterprises in the state. The ministry will extend its support to such organizations, interested in forming such cluster groups to promote small and medium enterprises,” he added.
Further, the Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industries of Manipur – Nemcha Kipgen noted that the state administration is ready to provide all possible assistance to help those working in MSMEs to benefit from these schemes. .
The NSSH that hosted the event offers various industry-specific training, business orientation programs, e-tendering knowledge sessions to develop the technical and business skills of SC-ST MSEs in close partnership with industry and academia.
